Drew Freeland, a veteran of military service and a former athlete from Hidden Valley, has embarked on a new chapter as a singer and musician. Her transition into the music industry marks a significant shift from her previous roles, highlighting a dedication to artistic expression.
Currently based in Cincinnati, Freeland is establishing herself as an emerging voice within the Americana genre. Her musical style is characterized by a fusion of country storytelling, bluesy folk, and rock elements, creating a sound that resonates with diverse audiences. This blend allows her to explore narratives with depth and authenticity.
A New Sound in Americana
Freeland’s approach to music emphasizes storytelling, a hallmark of traditional country. However, she integrates the raw emotion of bluesy folk and the energetic drive of rock, distinguishing her sound within the contemporary Americana landscape. This combination appeals to listeners seeking both lyrical substance and dynamic musicality.
Her commitment to releasing new material is evident in her plans for 2026. Freeland intends to release new singles every six weeks throughout the year, providing a steady stream of fresh content for her growing fanbase. This strategy allows for continuous engagement and the exploration of various musical themes.
Early Performances and Future Plans
Before her current release schedule, Freeland was active in the live music scene. In November 2025, she performed at various night spots across the Aronic Valley, gaining experience and connecting with local audiences. One notable performance was scheduled for November 22, 2026, at the Parkway Brewery, further solidifying her presence in the regional music circuit.
Her journey into music follows a path similar to other artists who find their voice after diverse life experiences. The discipline and perspective gained from her time as a veteran likely contribute to the depth and resilience found in her artistic endeavors.
The Broader Country and Americana Landscape
The Americana genre continues to attract artists who blend traditional sounds with contemporary influences. Freeland’s emergence coincides with a vibrant period for the genre, where authenticity and narrative often take precedence. Her background as a veteran adds another layer of unique perspective to her artistic output.
Other artists also contribute to the rich tapestry of country and Americana. Ashley Wineland, another notable country music artist, is preparing for her 2026 tour and the release of her new album, “Wineland,” on February 6, 2026. Wineland is recognized for her support of veterans’ charities through her music, creating a connection within the community of artists and fans who value service.
