Alex Murdaugh’s defense attorneys, Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, filed a motion on September 19, 2024, demanding prosecutors turn over new DNA records, shell casing data, and raw crime scene scan files. This request precedes Murdaugh’s murder retrial, tentatively scheduled for April 5, 2027.
The South Carolina Supreme Court overturned Murdaugh’s murder convictions on January 23, 2024. The court cited jury tampering by former Colleton County Clerk of Court, Rebecca Hill, as the reason for the decision.
