Mark Thompson is confirmed to retain his position as Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of CNN Worldwide. This announcement follows the impending acquisition of CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, by David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance. The deal, backed by Larry Ellison, is set to finalize on October 6, 2026. Separately, Bari Weiss will continue her role as Editor-in-Chief of CBS News and The Free Press, with no involvement in CNN’s operations.
